The inaugural “Taipei Youth Overseas Internship Program” empowered Taipei youth Charlie and Ariel to travel to the global hub of technology—the San Francisco Bay Area—to intern at the startup Taelor AI.
Immersed in Silicon Valley’s highly international and fast-paced environment, they not only applied their academic knowledge to real-world business settings but also developed practical skills and a results-driven mindset essential for navigating a complex world.
During their time there, they actively participated in data integration, analysis, and report preparation, while also optimizing data extraction processes. Their experience reflects the rapid pace and close cross-department collaboration that define startup operations.
During their internships at Taelor AI, Charlie and Ariel each took on key roles in the fields of data and product:
💡The Data Engineer’s “Art of Building Order”
With a background in data science, Charlie was responsible for designing data engineering workflows from the ground up. He successfully established ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load), created data-cleaning templates, and optimized the analytical workflow for product inventory.
Throughout this internship journey, he came to realize that a data engineer’s role is to “bridge the gaps between data and business,” enabling data to truly support decision-making and product development.
💡Product Management and Efficiency:
Ariel worked within the product and inventory management departments, beginning with a foundational understanding of merchandise and management logic. In collaboration with her mentor, she helped define a comprehensive inventory management framework from the ground up.
Through this experience, she observed that U.S. workplace culture places strong emphasis on being result-oriented. Within this environment, employee performance is evaluated not by the number of hours invested, but by the ability to meet established goals on schedule and deliver tangible outcomes.

After work each day, they worked out with colleagues and adjusted their daily routines, which significantly improved both sleep quality and focus. With renewed physical energy, their mindset when facing challenges became steadier and more confident.
This internship experience taught them that data is more than just numbers—it is a language for understanding business, shaping products, and driving change. Internships are not merely a line on a résumé; they are a journey in self-management and cross-cultural adaptation.
Looking Ahead,Charlie has set his sights on pursuing graduate studies in data science and information systems, aiming to further integrate data engineering with applied machine learning. Ariel has also confirmed her passion for the fast-paced startup environment and plans to carry this invaluable experience forward as she continues to explore growth and opportunities in her career.
